Corbett Community Library Easter Newsletter

April Newsletter

HAPPY EASTER!

On March 16th, we are proud to declare our Big Fat Cheesy Quiz Night was a ‘Big Fat’ success! The night was sold out(!) and we were able to raise over £800, which REALLY helps with the day to day running of our beloved library.

Our Spring Maker’s Market was also an enjoyable event with 24 arts and craft stalls and 240 visitors. We’d like to express our gratitude and upmost appreciation to the makers; who are the backbone of these events and help make our community such a bubbling pot of talent and creativity.

Furthermore, our ever popular Jackynory and our Book Launch on 30th March meant footfall was ABSOLUTELY GINORMOUS this month!

Our library is staying open for Easter and only closed on the bank holidays; Good Friday and Easter Monday. Some of our activities are term time only, so won’t be running for the next two weeks such as: Play & Chat, Singalong Sally, Core Pilates, Gentle Seated Yoga and Kids Vogue Stars.

Sorrel, Janis and Deebha; Saturday volunteers

Goodbye and good luck

We are very sad to announce that two of our fantastic volunteers; Janis and Deebha, who have been instrumental on Saturdays, are taking a break to focus on their exams. They will be truly missed. Should you see them, do wish them luck with their revision and thank them for their fantastic service.

Our Centre Assistant, Harriet, who has loved working in this incredible community, is also departing due to getting a full time role in the civil service. She has enjoyed her time with our diverse, multi-faceted space and looks forward to remaining one of our many library users and utilising the space to get a good book.

Harriet, about to enjoy Jackynory.

We are very pleased to announce that her role is going to be filled internally, with our incredible volunteer, Ruth, proactively stepping up and in.

Friends of our Library:

Thank you to all those who donated to our Just Giving Page or renewed your Friendship with the library! We have now completed 31% of our intended goal.

Please note that you will get a personalised thank you, if you let us know you have donated AND provide your email address to us, but there may be a small delay whilst our fabulous Trustees compile the growing list of Friends.

Have you donated and not received a thank you? Do email us, so we can rectify this immediately. If you’d like to donate please click here.

Thank you: your support continues to make a huge difference to our day to day operations!

Enjoy the Spring festivities,

Rachel, Harriet and all the CCL Team

APRIL EVENTS

Gabi, our yoga teacher, presents:

ACTIVITIES

All our activities can be found on our website and on Lewisham Libraries Events Pages. We have sessions across the week to help you be your best self.

Other News: Comics Plus

We are delighted to announce that Lewisham Libraries now have access to Comics Plus, an e-collection of thousands of digital comics, graphic novels and manga. Access is unlimited and simultaneous so everyone can read everything at anytime! There is also separate access for under 12's so children can browse age-appropriate content for themselves.

April Timetable

As you know, our library services are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. What happens on Wednesdays? The Village welcomes you.

On Sunday, our space is used by Art Form and you may hear singing as you pass by.

The Easter holidays do cause some activities to pause, look for ‘Term time only’ to help guide you.

We have coded some of our activities: yellow for child friendly, teal for health and wellbeing and underlined activities are dementia friendly:
