Corbett Community Library May Newsletter

May Newsletter

A ‘rare’ sunny, dry day at Corbett Community Library 29th April 2024

It’s May and it ‘may’ be finally warming up! This month, as well as our regular timetable of activities, we are opening the library up for a couple of other organisations to showcase their work. Gabi, our in-house Yoga instructor is delivering her first Sound Bath as well as her usual Hatha Yoga classes and K&F Arts and Crafts are back organising their first of three craft fairs this year.

We are also working on some Cost Benefit Analysis Research to better understand the true impact community library hubs, such as ours, have on our local community and volunteers. Please help us with this by completing the survey detailed below.

We look forward to seeing you this month and if any of you fancy volunteering here at the library please read on…

Cost Benefit Analysis Research - Beneficiaries

One of our ‘young readers’ reaping the benefits of having a local library

Community Managed Libraries (CMLs), like ours, offer a range of activities and services beyond core library lending making them real community hubs. We want to better understand the impact of these activities on our local community and volunteers, as well as how they reduce the burden on public services such as the NHS and DWP among others. We are running this pilot survey intended for those attending activities, groups, services, or events here to quantify the benefits that being a part of an activity has on participants over time. We really appreciate you providing as much information as you can as it helps us gain a full picture of the library’s impact. Please follow the link to complete or pop in for a paper copy. Thank you 😃

We need a few specialist volunteers

Our new bookshop!

Volunteer Jackie with some of our books for sale

Due to our recent Fire Risk Assessment we sadly had to reduce our bookshop, moving it out of the entrance foyer and solely into the inner foyer. We’ve had a good old re-arrange and it’s looking great! Hardbacks cost £1 and paperbacks 50p. There is a large variety of books, so visit us to discover your next read!
