Corbett Community Library May newsletter

Carol Mullings artist and face painter
This Saturday 3rd May we look forward to welcoming you here for our annual Spring Makers Market and VE Day Celebration! We have 26 stalls outside and in with artists, makers and bakers, face painting, a raffle, 40’s music, jerk chicken, cakes, tuck shop, our lovely outdoor coffee shop and more!
We love hosting artists here and sharing the work of the talented people that live in and around the Corbett Estate. We also have some live 40’s singing with local, talented resident Ros at 4pm, followed by the raffle at 4.30pm. Across the road at St Andrews Church Hall they are holding a ‘Forgotten Treasures Sale’ with extra craft stalls so you can easily visit both. A great opportunity to pick up a bespoke gift, antique trinket, some yummy food and support your local library! We look forward to seeing you and please spread the word…
Please note, we’re closed for the bank holidays on 5th and 26th May.

Volunteer interviews: Anne-Marie and Vitta

Anne-Marie
Why did you decide to volunteer here? I was reducing working hours and wanted to do something to give to the local community that didn’t involve caring (as I worked 46 years as a nurse previously).
What’s your favourite thing about volunteering here? Being around books, and being a part of a like-minded group of people.
Can you sum up the library in three words? Friendly community hub
Why would you recommend the library? It’s very welcoming and there’s such a lot going on for different types of people.
Vitta
Why did you decide to volunteer here? I’d just been made redundant and lost my husband, and I wanted to get out of the house and have something to do. The library is a nice place to meet people. I also enjoy reading so it’s nice to be able to look at the books, sort them, and more. The library is very local, with lots of things going on.
What’s your favourite thing about volunteering here? Meeting all the different people in the community and seeing them around outside of the library.
Can you sum up the library in three words? Beautiful, pleasant, atmosphere is lovely
Why would you recommend the library? It’s a nice place to come into, meet people, and look around. There’s a good atmosphere.
